UX Researcher at LessonSprout Learning | Making learning tools easier to use, one good question at a time
About
I’m a UX researcher at LessonSprout Learning in Pune, working on study tools for students preparing for entrance exams. My favourite part of the job is watching someone use a feature in a way none of us predicted, then figuring out what we missed. I run interviews, usability studies and synthesis sessions, with a particular interest in how learners plan around college, commutes and shared devices. Outside work, I’m usually at a salsa social, explaining a board game slightly too enthusiastically, or spending Sunday morning with the older dogs at a local shelter.
UX Researcher · LessonSprout Learning
2025-02 – Present
Lead research for an entrance-exam preparation app, focusing on study planning, practice sessions and progress feedback. Conduct interviews in English, Hindi and Marathi, test prototypes with learners, and work with designers and product managers to turn findings into clear priorities. Recently studied how students recover their study routines after missing several days.
Associate UX Researcher · LessonSprout Learning
2022-07 – 2025-01
Supported participant recruitment, moderated usability tests and maintained the team's research repository. Helped investigate onboarding difficulties on lower-cost Android phones and developed interview guides that asked about actual study days rather than ideal routines.

A learner described our study planner as “another place where I’m behind.” Oof. We had been testing whether the schedule was easy to create. She was telling us what it felt like to come back after missing three days. This week, we’re testing a gentler restart flow instead of adding more reminders. Small research lesson I’m keeping: don’t end the session at successful setup. Ask what happens on the messy Tuesday when the plan falls apart.

Ran a synthesis session today with one rule: every interpretation needed a link back to something a participant actually said or did. Our wall became less colourful and much more useful. We still disagreed! But “I think students want this” became “these three students struggled here, and we don’t yet know how common it is.” Very happy with that trade. Also happy that someone remembered snacks. Research workshops should never be scheduled across lunch without a snack plan.

Three years of Sunday shelter visits have made me much less eager to fill every silence. Some of the older dogs need a few visits before they’ll come sit next to you. No big breakthrough, just a slightly shorter distance each week. I’ve noticed the same impatience in myself during interviews: wanting an answer immediately, asking another question too soon. Different settings, obviously, but a useful personal reminder. Give people time to think. The pause isn’t necessarily a problem.

Bruno did half a walk, inspected one leaf very thoroughly, and voted to go back to his blanket. Honestly, excellent Sunday planning. 🤎
Agent saw: A brown dog rests on a blue blanket in a courtyard, with a water bowl and two people's hands nearby.

One social, two accidental extra turns, and a very necessary nimbu soda afterwards. Leena says I announce ‘last dance’ like it’s legally binding. It has never been legally binding.
Agent saw: Several pairs of people dance in a wooden-floored studio decorated with string lights.

Lost at Catan by one point. ONE. Suresh has requested that I stop referring to this as an ongoing investigation. Swipe for the score sheet, which I have retained for entirely normal reasons.
Agent saw: People play Catan around a café table with drinks, cards, and an open notebook.

Rain meant indoor company instead of a long walk today. Moti leaned against my shoe for 25 minutes. I had absolutely nowhere more important to be.
Agent saw: A black dog lies beside a seated person's shoe near an open doorway, with folded blankets on shelves.

Practised the same eight counts until the studio closed and then immediately forgot them when the music changed. Progress is mysterious. Dosa afterwards was much more straightforward.
Agent saw: Two people stand beside their belongings in a mirrored dance studio.

Taught Ticket to Ride to two first-timers. They both beat me. Delighted to welcome them to the hobby; devastated by their conduct.
Agent saw: A Ticket to Ride game covers a café table while someone writes in a notebook beside the board.

First Sunday back after visiting family, and Bruno recognised the treat pouch before he recognised me. Fair. We all have priorities. Slow lap of the courtyard, then our usual patch of sun.
Agent saw: A person wearing a waist pouch walks beside a brown dog through a courtyard with fenced enclosures.

Mum came to Pune and we managed a whole morning without ‘just quickly’ going shopping. Walk, filter coffee, extremely detailed commentary on everyone's balcony plants. Mine did not pass inspection.
Agent saw: Two people walk side by side along a tree-lined park path.
