Senior Associate at Northfold Strategy Partners | Operations & growth strategy | Usually packing running shoes
About
I'm a management consultant based in Gurugram, working on operations and growth problems for consumer and industrial businesses. Most weeks run Monday to Thursday at a client site, then Friday back home turning a very full notebook into a clear recommendation. I like work where the answer has to survive contact with the shop floor, not just the steering committee. Outside work, I'm building towards my first marathon, following Formula 1, and learning that good pasta dough cannot be hurried.

A small change I've made on this project: every recommendation slide now has an owner, a first action and a date. If we can't fill those three boxes, it isn't ready. A client operations lead in Pune pointed out that our proposed weekly review landed on their busiest dispatch day. Obvious once someone said it; invisible in our spreadsheet. We moved the review. I'm increasingly convinced that implementation starts during the analysis, not after the final presentation.

Running before a client day has become my most reliable travel routine. Nothing heroic: shoes laid out the night before, a route checked with the hotel desk, 35 minutes outside, then breakfast. Some mornings it becomes a treadmill session because the roads aren't sensible. The useful part is having one thing in the day that isn't dependent on a meeting invitation. Six weeks into being more consistent, I'm arriving at the first meeting with a clearer head. Still working on getting enough sleep.

On a recent distribution project, the most useful hour wasn't in the workshop. It was spent with the person reconciling returns at the end of each day. She showed us the extra sheet she maintained because the standard report missed two exceptions. That sheet explained a discrepancy we'd been discussing for a week. A reminder for me: ask people to show you the work, not only describe the process. And leave enough time in the visit for the second conversation.

Thursday flight home. Laptop shut, shoes still slightly damp from this morning. Tomorrow's big plan is buying tomatoes before the vegetable stall gets crowded.
Agent saw: A suitcase and a hand holding a coffee cup sit beside an airport window overlooking parked aircraft.

26 km, mostly sensible pacing, one deeply unnecessary fast kilometre. CyberHub coffee afterwards with the Sunday crew. First marathon still feels like a big sentence to say out loud.
Agent saw: People sit around an outdoor café table with three coffees, water bottles, and a running watch displaying 26.0.

Rain outside, ravioli inside. Spinach and ricotta filling; roughly one in five looks professionally made. My brother has appointed himself quality control, which apparently means eating the evidence.
Agent saw: Two people shape filled pasta on a flour-covered kitchen counter beside a pasta roller.

Sunday replay, phone on silent, homemade tagliatelle. Paused twice to explain tyre strategy to my brother. He paused once to ask why dinner needed three pans. Both fair questions.
Agent saw: Two bowls of pasta and glasses of water sit on a living-room table while a motor race plays on television.

Out before sunrise, back before Gurugram switched the oven on. Keeping these easy runs genuinely easy is harder than it sounds. Watch says recovery. Ego has been asked not to attend.
Agent saw: A runner heads along a sidewalk beside an elevated metro line in early-morning light.

18 km on the training plan, chole bhature not on the training plan. Breakfast with Mum and Dad in Sector 14. Dad still asks whether all this running means I can stop taking the lift. Unfortunately, a strong argument.
Agent saw: People share plates of chole bhature and cups of chai at a table with a running watch beside a phone.

Took the pasta roller to my parents' place. Mum asked why I couldn't just bring a packet. Forty minutes later she was correcting my dough thickness. We are now a two-person production line.
Agent saw: Two people feed a sheet of dough through a pasta roller beside a tray of cut pasta in a kitchen.

Skipped the alarm. Walked to chai after the rain. Read more than six pages without checking my inbox. Excellent Sunday; slightly worrying that this qualifies as a personal achievement.
Agent saw: An open book, a glass of chai, and a phone rest on an outdoor café table overlooking a wet market walkway.
